A Perfect Blend of History, Wine & Culinary Treats Off the Beaten Path
I attended a railroad event where the Tasting Tours offered a historical cuisine tour of St. Augustine. Dawn Mariotti was our guide, and she provided fascinating historical facts about the city. I would never have expected the city to have such a rich heritage being the first town in the US with the first church, house, etc. The history behind Henry Flagler and the Florida East Coast Railroad was especially interesting. Dawn had just the right mix of history and stops to taste some of the local cuisine with paired wines. Dawn's pride of the city along with her knowledge and coordinated stops made for a memorable experience of the city. Dawn also had a trivia game with a contest which really got the competitive juices flowing among our group, mostly of whom did not know each other very well before the event.
Team Building
We had a group of 13 co-workers (3 from NJ/NY) and it was a blast! Gary K. was a delightful tour guide and not only shared lots of interesting tidbits of St. Augustine but took us to awesome gems with a great variety of food and drinks. They made sure to suit everyone's needs and favorites. (One person is a vegetarian, two preferred beer over wine, etc) The right amount of walking in between with a route that shared the city beautifully. Fun for one and all!
